Facebook Comments Growth Tool It is an amazing feature that can help you bring many subscribers from FB Fan Page posts to your bot.
You can find this widget in the “Growth Tools” tab of your ManyChat account - just click the “+ Add Growth Tool” button in the upper right corner:

You must select the widget in this section, and then:

Finally, you will enter“Settings”The label:

As you can see, you will have to:
1. Select a post from the page you want to connect to the widget, or choose “Growth Tools” to handle all posts (the “Pro Plan” feature).
2. Enable the “Track First-Level Comments Only” option - it will disable the growth tool for second-level comments (i.e., replies).
3. Choose whether to send the widget's auto-response message immediately or delayed (up to 60 minutes).
4. Decide whether you want users to leave a specific comment (meaning other comments will not be recognized), or whether to exclude certain words (meaning they will also not trigger the “Auto Reply” message). You can actually leave the last two fields blank so that any comment under the post can trigger the auto-reply message.
Please note that the comment growth tool applies to published posts on FB pages, ongoing FB Live posts, scheduled posts, and boosted posts, but forads created in the Ads Managerposts,it may notwork properly (for more details, please read the “Post Selector” section below, paragraphs 3 and 4).
Note:
- The tool can be used for both new and old posts, but the widget cannot recognize existing comments in the comments section of old posts.
- The widget does not apply to posts in forums or profiles on FB.
- If you have the “All Posts” comment growth tool and there is one connected to a specific post, please note that the specific post comment growth tool will take precedence over “All Posts” and is the only one to trigger.
Release Selector #
Let's talk about some posts that can connect to the widget.
To select posts, click the “Select Posts” button in the “Settings” tab of the Growth Tool - you will see 4 tabs where you can choose posts:
1. Published Posts. #
“The ”Published Posts“ tab includes all posts on your business page - they can be text, photo, video, or live video type posts. Please remember that photos and videos should be uploaded from the device to the post - if items from the ”Photos“ or ”Videos“ section of the fan page are added to the post, the ”Comments" widget may not function properly. Only post entities are supported to collect comments and ultimately send private automated replies to users.
ManyChat does not support event, offer, and job type posts, as well as any reposts from other pages.
Therefore, the safest way to connect the comments widget to a post on the fan page is to select it from the “Published Posts” tab.

2. Scheduled Posts. #
ManyChat also supports Facebook's scheduled posts - you can select one from the “Scheduled Posts” tab, and the widget will start collecting comments and sending automated reply messages to users once the post is published.

3. Promoted Posts. #
“The ”Promoted Posts" tab includes ad posts, dark posts, boosted posts, and any other posts that can be promoted on Facebook.
Ad posts created in Facebook Ads Manager can be found in this tab. We recommend selecting ad posts from this list to avoid issues with invalid post IDs.

4. Custom #
“The ”Custom" tab allows you to find and associate a post by entering the URL or ID of the Facebook post. However, we do not recommend connecting posts to the widget this way (especially ad posts created in Ads Manager) - ManyChat is not responsible for any errors or issues arising from this method of selecting posts.

5. All Posts #
Now, we have created a possibility to trigger a single “Growth Tool” for all your posts. You just need to select “All Posts” from the list, after which any comments will trigger a response.
Please note:
1. If you have a “Comment Growth” tool for a specific post, it will trigger, but the “All Posts” tool will not.
2. If there are two “Comment Growth Tools for All Posts” on a page, the CGT at the top of the list will trigger.
3. If you comment on two or more posts on the page using the “All Posts GT,” a response will be triggered each time.
Click “Next” to proceed.“Auto Response”Label*:

After the commenter posts a comment, the auto reply message will be sent to the commenter immediately. They need to interact with it to become a subscriber.
Now let's move on to the next label - “Opt-in Action”:

Here, you can use the PostBack button and link it to any existing Flow - just like how you would operate in the Flow Builder.
Another interaction that leads to opting in is keyboard input. Therefore, even if the commenter types something instead of clicking the button on the widget's “Auto Response” message, you can still gain a new subscriber. This feature essentially acts as a CGT-specific default reply. You can set one of three different options to respond to the subscriber's keyboard input:
- You can choose not to send an “Opt-in” message at all.(Note that the absence of some form of confirmation message may confuse some users).
- You can choose to send the “Opt-in” message to everyone, regardless of whether the “keyword” in the user's response has the “Send to all responders” option.
- Alternatively, you can also send the “Opt-in” message only to users who replied to the auto reply message with keywords set in the special field below the options. These keywords are different from the keywords under the “Automation” section, so they cannot be triggered outside of this growth tool, and you cannot reuse them in some other growth tools in the future.
To set up the “Opt-in message,” simply click here on the“Edit”button:

After creating the desired flow, make sure to click the“Publish”button.
You can now also subscribe users to sequences in the widget's “Opt-in Action” tab through the “Add Subscribers to Sequence” section.
Generally, the “Opt-in Action” tab is used to set the “Opt-in message” for users, but you can actually choose other methods. Specifically, you can disable the opt-in message in the “Opt-in Action” tab by selecting the “Do not send opt-in message” option - in this case, you can go to the “Automation” => “Keywords” tab and add a custom message (along with various other actions). When users type one of these keywords as a reply to the widget's auto response message, they will become subscribers and immediately trigger the custom message.
Once set up, make sure to click the “Save” button and activate the widget using the “Active Draft” toggle switch in the upper right corner:

Important Note:
- “The ”Facebook Comments" widget processes 20 comments per minute - this limit is intentionally implemented so that Facebook cannot ban your page from sending to spam users.
- Currently, due to FB's API limitations, this widget can only be tested once by the same user - if you received an automatic response, it means the tool is working as expected and no further testing is needed.
- The widget is only used with comments from personal Facebook profiles - commenting on behalf of your FB page will not trigger an automatic response.
- If any country/age restrictions are set on the page, you will not be able to link posts on the FB page to the widget. Please remove the restrictions for the tool to work as intended.
- Please remember that due to technical limitations, ManyChat cannot fully track 100% of new subscribers joining through Facebook comments. All unmatched users will become subscribers but will not receive the opt-in message.
- “The ”Facebook Comments“ widget is only applicable to comments left under original posts on ”fan pages" - unfortunately, shared posts are not supported at this time. We hope FB allows more options in the foreseeable future!
Regarding posts with multiple images.
Such posts (galleries) can be created in two ways:
1. Manually by users in the page's feed: users create a post and add all images through the “Upload Photo/Video” or “Create Album” section and publish it.

2. Automatically generated by Facebook when users create/update albums in the “Photos” section of the fan page.
The comments widget will handle these two types of posts differently:
Type [1] posts will be used with the “Comments” widget when users leave comments below the post of the first image in their gallery or in the comments section, while other images do not.

Type [2] posts can only be used with the “Comments” widget when users leave comments in the comments section of the first image in the gallery, while it does not apply to other images.

Hope this information helps you. Make the most of the Facebook comments growth tool!
